The pre-made beverage was initially launched in 2008, and the formulation now features an increased concentration of matcha for a more robust flavor.

Starbucks Japan is further embracing the matcha fad with the reintroduction of its Kyoto Matcha Latte beverage.
The product returns to commemorate the 20th anniversary of pre-packaged Starbucks beverages. SoraNews24 indicates that Starbucks has maintained the milk options from the drink's first launch in 2008, while enhancing it with an increased concentration of matcha for a more robust flavor. The beverage's design stays unchanged and is accompanied by a coordinating green straw.
Starbucks recommends pairing the beverage with a tuna mayonnaise rice ball. The nori seaweed and tuna augment the rich flavor of the matcha, while the mayonnaise enhances the milk. A steaming cheesecake is an additional suggestion from the coffee conglomerate.
The Kyoto Matcha Latte from Starbucks Japan is currently available at convenience stores and supermarkets around Japan.
