Chelsea's King's Road is currently experiencing numerous new openings, including the recently inaugurated Cafe Linea and the food emporium Arthur's Market. We have received information regarding an additional matter. This October, The Trafalgar Public House will inaugurate its establishment in a Grade II listed former bank of the Cadogan Estate, marking the first pub constructed on the street in over a century.

This initiative is initiated by Three Cheers Pub Co, the company responsible for popular establishments in the South West, such as The Latchmere and The Avalon in Clapham, led by Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds, and Nick Fox. Named in honor of Britain's triumph in the Battle of Trafalgar, the pub has had a £2.4 million renovation to establish a contemporary yet distinctive setting for drinking and dining.

The Trafalgar will occupy two levels. The upper level will showcase expansive Georgian windows, shimmering chandeliers, and intimate booths, adorned with vintage artwork on the walls. The lower level will serve as the party venue, featuring a premium sound system and a distinctive mirrored roof. Guests can partake in a schedule of live music, artistic performances, and cabaret events, featuring stand-up shows by the comedy ensemble Always Be Comedy every Thursday. The venue will also be available for rental for private events. Culinary offerings will play a crucial role in The Trafalgar; however, the menu details have not yet been disclosed.

“We are pleased to undertake this historic site and establish an exceptional new public house, a welcoming environment for Chelsea residents and visitors,” stated Peake. “We take pride in participating in this significant development and anticipate fostering a genuine sense of community and connection in the area that only an authentic British pub can provide.”

Hugh Seaborn, Chief Executive of Cadogan, stated: 'The Trafalgar will significantly enhance the King’s Road.' Pubs are integral to community life, and we are pleased to reintroduce not only an exceptional bar but one that will enhance Chelsea’s vibrant cultural scene with outstanding music, drama, comedy, and performance. It is anticipated that it will be embraced by residents and emerge as a new attraction for visitors to Chelsea.

This will be the eighth establishment in the Three Cheers Pub Co portfolio. The trio's inaugural establishment was The Abbeville in 2003, after which they launched a series of popular pubs, including The Stonhouse in Clapham, The Rosendale in Dulwich, and The Bedford in Balham, garnering numerous awards in the process.

The King's Road is among London's most historic thoroughfares. Until 1830, it served as a private thoroughfare for King Charles II, facilitating his journeys to his palaces in St James’ and Hampton Court. In 1855, it was designated Cemetery Road with the establishment of the new Chelsea cemetery, but this designation reverted in 1911 to commemorate the coronation of George V.

In the 1960s, the King’s Road started to acquire its trendy, bohemian character. It emerged as a center for art, music, and fashion, led by figures such as Mary Quant and Alexander Plunkett-Greene, who established businesses on the street. Recently, it has emerged as a culinary destination, featuring multiple excellent restaurants, bars, and pubs. A significant excitement surrounds the region currently, as the inaugural Chelsea Arts Festival is scheduled to commence next week: a four-day celebration of the capital's culture with prominent figures such as Ian McEwan, Ambika Mod, Elizabeth Day, and Matt Haig.

The Trafalgar Public House will commence operations at 224-226 King’s Road, London SW3 5UA this October. thetrafalgarchelsea.com
