The eating scene in Texas has become increasingly vibrant.

On October 28, the MICHELIN Guide announced its second annual selection during a prestigious ceremony at Houston’s Wortham Theater Center, highlighting the chefs and restaurants that are transforming gastronomy throughout Texas.

This year, three new restaurants were awarded the prestigious One MICHELIN Star distinction. In Dallas, Mamani impressed inspectors with its French contemporary style, directed by Chef Christophe De Lellis, who boasts nearly ten years of experience at Joël Robuchon’s renowned Las Vegas kitchen. In San Antonio, Isidore premiered with a live-fire fireplace, midcentury design, and a menu based on Texas products with Indigenous influences. In San Antonio, Nicosi was recognized for its dramatic, dessert-exclusive tasting menu, where patrons relinquish their phones and engage in an avant-garde experience encompassing acid, umami, bitterness, and sweetness.

With these acquisitions, Texas now features 18 Starred eateries, reflecting the state's culinary vibrancy. However, the acknowledgment extended beyond Stars. Two new MICHELIN Green Stars, conferred upon restaurants advocating sustainability, were awarded to Nixta Taqueria in Austin and Isidore in San Antonio, joining Dai Due and Emmer & Rye as pioneers in fostering a more responsible dining future.

Simultaneously, eight new Bib Gourmands were introduced, recognizing accessible, flavor-centric establishments that provide "excellent food at an exceptional value." Consider Houston's ChòpnBlọk and da Gama Canteen, San Antonio's Mezquite, and Austin's Mercado Sin Nombre. The 2025 Guide features 140 restaurants representing 33 cuisines, from barbecue to omakase, demonstrating the extensive and exceptional nature of Texas' culinary narrative.

The MICHELIN Guide also emphasizes accommodations, featuring Houston's One Key-awarded Hotel Saint Augustine, Austin's two Keys Commodore Perry Estate, and San Antonio's two Keys riverfront gem, Hotel Emma.
