Christmas lights are emerging throughout the streets of London, signaling the commencement of the festive season. However, for certain urban residents, the most eagerly awaited illumination is that of The Churchill Arms, the Kensington bar famous for its enchanting Christmas light exhibition. On Friday evening, 15 November, a significant event occurred, drawing audiences from distant locations to witness one of London’s most renowned pubs embrace the festive season.

The Churchill Arms has illuminated its Christmas lights.

Situated at the intersection of Kensington Church Street, The Churchill Arms is among the most picturesque pubs in the city, boasting a rich historical background. Constructed in 1750, it was frequently visited by Winston Churchill's grandparents, resulting in the pub's naming post-World War II. Churchill memorabilia adorns the walls, and the ceilings are embellished with potted plants.

In addition to its historical origins, The Churchill Arms is recognized for its flowery façade, which reportedly incurs an annual expense of £25,000. It is among the select pubs that can assert its status as a Chelsea Flower Show winner.

During the Christmas season, the outside undergoes a festive transformation, adorned with trees, luminous lights, and abundant seasonal flora. This year's display features 50 Christmas trees and over 300,000 LED lights, along with the 'Letters to Santa' box located at the entryway. Installing the decorations is a considerable undertaking, requiring approximately one month to finish, with the entire team participating.

The interior is appropriately cozy, adorned with many festive decorations. The menu transcends traditional pub fare, offering a selection of Thai cuisine, including spicy noodles and green curries, complemented by ales, craft brews, wines, and spirits.

Interested in seeing it in person? The Christmas light display is activated daily at 5 PM till closing time.
