This June, consider the new London eateries to note, featuring a Parisian-inspired bistro by Jackson Boxer, a casual fish restaurant in Finsbury Park, among others.

Jones & Sons, South Woodford

The original Jones & Sons may be familiar to you as the filming site for Boiling Point, the most intense culinary drama on television. However, there is no need for concern: dining at that location is significantly less stressful, and the company is already inaugurating a second establishment, this time in South Woodford to the east. Head chef Kieran Hope and his crew will prepare a meal akin to the original, emphasizing seasonal British produce obtained from local suppliers. Appetizers feature tuna ceviche with strawberry ponzu, whole grilled lobster with garlic butter and charred lemon, and honey miso fish with apple dashi, in addition to the substantial roasts for which the establishment is renowned, available every Sunday.

Henri, Covent Garden

Renowned chef Jackson Boxer, proprietor of Orasay in Notting Hill, is inaugurating a new restaurant within the Henrietta Experimental hotel in Covent Garden. This marks Boxer’s second work with the group, following their recent partnership on Cowley Manor Experimental in the Cotswolds. Their recent collaboration, Henri, will include Parisian bistro aesthetics designed by Dorothée Meilichzon, complemented by a diverse cuisine from Boxer. Patrons may chose from an array of small and large dishes from the charcoal grill, or opt for a conventional three-course meal with French classics such as fried Pied de Cochon with Agen prunes and beer mustard, grilled snails with green garlic and veal rice, and steak frites.

The Park, Bayswater

After the divestiture of his restaurant business Corbin & King, seasoned restaurateur Jeremy King is 'resuming his endeavors' (his expression). This June, he will inaugurate a new restaurant named The Park, inspired by European large cafés. This is a familiar domain for King, who has established multiple brasseries over the years, including arguably the capital's most renowned, The Wolseley. In an email to his mailing list, he stated that The Park will embody the essence of "Grand Cafés & Brasseries," which he much admires, although it will distinctly reflect the characteristics of the early 21st century rather than the 20th century. The restaurant will commence operations in the new Park Modern building situated across from Kensington Palace Gardens.

Akira Back at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

Michelin-starred Korean chef Akira Back is entering the London culinary scene with two new establishments at the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair. The initial establishment is the eponymous Akira Back restaurant, a Japanese dining venue featuring some of his most acclaimed dishes, including the renowned AB Tuna Pizza and the 28 Hour Short Ribs, in addition to new offerings exclusive to London, such as a wagyu tempura Wellington. In addition, Back will introduce his chef’s table concept Dosa to the city, offering a selection of Korean cuisine in a counter-style format, featuring a set menu inspired by the four seasons.

Tollington’s, Finsbury Park

Ed McIlroy, the proprietor of the renowned Plimsoll pub in Finsbury Park, has launched a new fish bar, Tollington’s, located on Stroud Green Road. He will infuse the traditional fish and chips concept with a European influence, drawing inspiration from regional Spanish cuisine and culture. The menu will emphasize seafood, featuring dishes of cured, fresh, and fried fish and shellfish, in addition to select cuts of beef. “We desire patrons to enter, enjoy a beverage, rest on a ledge, and partake in a light meal, or linger and savor substantial dishes at a table,” stated McIlroy. There will be no embellishments, only quality cuisine and an environment designed for residents and guests to dine, drink, and enjoy themselves. It is as straightforward as that.

Commencing operations in late June at 172 Tollington Park, N4 3AJ
