Since its inception in 2004, sushi restaurant Masa has achieved prominence, earning three Michelin stars and establishing itself as one of America's premier dining establishments. This September, the renowned chef-founder Masayoshi ‘Masa’ Takayama will inaugurate a new establishment, Tobi Masa, in London, located within the highly awaited hotel The Chancery Rosewood.

Tobi Masa will embody the same ingredient-centric concept as its American counterpart, showcasing sushi as a kind of fine art. The menu features trademark dishes such as Surimi Masa Pasta, Peking Duck Tacos, and Masa Toro Tartare, which consists of fatty tuna garnished with caviar. Additionally, there will be new creations developed solely for the London location.

However, it will undoubtedly be expensive: the omakase experience at Masa costs $750 per person, while sitting at the hinoki counter, which includes a personal sushi chef, costs an astonishing $950; rates for the London restaurant have yet to be disclosed.

Masa expresses pride in collaborating with a creative and inventive company such as Rosewood. “We are thrilled to commence this new venture together, particularly in such a historic landmark edifice in the heart of Mayfair.”

The opening will be one of eight dining establishments and bars debuting at The Chancery Rosewood, scheduled to commence operations within the old US Embassy in Mayfair. This encompasses the inaugural European establishment of the glamorous Italian restaurant Carbone, favored by celebrities, along with a novel Asian concept cuisine. The uppermost level will accommodate The bird Bar, a rooftop establishment offering panoramic vistas of London’s skyline, named after the 30-foot wide golden bird that has historically perched atop the building.

The hotel will be appropriately opulent: all 144 accommodations will be suites, and there will be an expansive spa featuring one of the largest pools in the capital.

Located on the fourth story of the Time Warner Center, Masa is renowned for initiating a new epoch in sushi dining. Patrons are presented with the finest seafood imported from Japan, including octopus, scallops, squid, and clams, prepared by chefs employing traditional sushi techniques. The interiors are basic and tranquil, including minimal table decorations and the absence of background music, facilitating complete concentration on the flavors. Photography is prohibited, maintaining the exclusivity of the experience.
